The recent Covid-19 (2019-2023) pandemic reminded us all that human health is inextricably connected to planetary, economic and societal health and wellbeing. We need to be invested in long-term changes and together we need to significantly reduce CO2 in our atmosphere

Before you begin we would like you to reflect about what you hope to achieve from this course, what is the difference you want to make and how we can help you to achieve it.

We understand that the climate crisis may elicit an emotional response and could possibly cause significant anxiety. Below is a list of resources providing support with concerns and apprehension about climate change, global warming and the climate crisis, also known as eco-anxiety.  

Emotional responses to Climate Change

The Organization is therefore urging countries to include mental health support in their response to the climate crisis, citing examples where a few pioneering countries have done this effectively”

The Climate Psychology Alliance UK provides “support to individuals and groups struggling with eco-distress and offers safe spaces to share emotions surrounding the climate crisis”. They are part of a wider global network of climate psychologists called Psyfuture. This network is comprised of support groups from around the globe including Europe, Russia, the USA and Australia to name but a few.

Judith Anderson chair of the Climate Psychology Alliance UK talks through the psychological impact of climate change and the many varieties of eco-distress and climate emotions in these two podcasts.
