Reactive Statement Regarding Investment in FutureLearn
FutureLearn is a social learning platform delivering online courses from over 150 leading universities and cultural institutions across the globe. Since the launch of its first course in late 2013, over 8 million learners have registered with FutureLearn. In light of the strong demand from both learners and institutional partners, FutureLearn is planning a significant expansion of its operations. To support this growth, FutureLearn intends to work with its existing stakeholders as well as bring in new investment partners to help grow its leading position in serving the needs of 21st Century learners even further. This is a very exciting time for FutureLearn as it continues its vision to transform access to education.
FutureLearn was established by The Open University, the largest university in the UK and pioneer of distance learning. The Open University has been instrumental in the successful development of FutureLearn through its 50 year brand heritage and widely recognised excellence in academic pedagogy.
The Open University has recently appointed IBIS Capital, an independent specialist financial advisor, to assist in the review of potential new investment partners for FutureLearn.
