FutureLearn Student Competition | Terms & Conditions

1. Organiser.  FutureLearn Ltd is the organiser of the ‘FutureLearn Student Competition’ (the “Prize Competition”) with its address at: 96 Euston Road, London, NW1 2DB.

2. Bound by terms and conditions. By submitting an entry to the Prize Competition, the entrant acknowledges that he/she has read and understood these Terms and Conditions and agrees to be bound by them.

3. Eligibility. The Prize Competition is a free draw where an entrant is not required to pay to enter the Prize Competition. The Prize Competition is open to anyone who is at school in the United Kingdom in Year 12 or 13 and who:

a)      Enrols on a FutureLearn course in accordance with Clause 4

b)      Has obtained consent from their parent to enter into this Prize Competition if a minor (under 18 years old)

4. How to enter. To enter the Prize Competition the entrant must enrol on a FutureLearn course:

a)    by clicking through from the Prize Competition advertising appearing on:

i.    The Student Room and The Student Room social media channels; or 

ii.   FutureLearn blog and social media channels; or

iii.   Other FutureLearn promotional partners such as Unifrog, etc

b)    between 2 November 2015 and 15 December 2015 with a valid email address

and if they win, they must be able to provide evidence that they are in years 12 or 13 at school in the UK.  Evidence includes: an email confirmation from a teacher (from a school email) and also email confirmation from a parent to say that they obtained permission to enter the competition.

Enrolments on courses that are not via the Prize Competition advertising in Clause 4a) will not be considered valid.

5. When to enter. This Prize Competition opens on 2 November 2015 and closes at 23:59 GMT on 15 December 2015 (the “Closing Date”).  Any entry submitted after the closing date may not be considered.

6. Data processing, etc.

a) The entrant consents to FutureLearn Ltd collecting, storing, and processing any personal data contained in his/her entry into the Prize Competition. The entrant agrees to the processing of such data for any purpose connected with the Prize Competition and for any other legitimate purpose.

7. Exclusions.

a)      FutureLearn Ltd employees, partners, suppliers and their families are not allowed to enter the ‘FutureLearn Student Competition’ Prize Competition.

b)      Entrants cannot enter multiple times.

8. Delayed or incomplete entries. FutureLearn Ltd rejects any liability for any delayed, lost, illegible or incomplete entries; and FutureLearn Ltd reserves the right to disregard any such entries. Proof of delivery of the entry is not proof of receipt by FutureLearn Ltd.

9. Process after the closing date.

a)      After the closing date there will be a period of up to 8 weeks for FutureLearn Ltd to review all valid entries.

b)      A random selection tool will be used to select the winner from all valid entries.

c)      Winners will be announced on or before 31 January 2016 via social media channels.

d)     Winners will be contacted once the announcement is made.

10. Contacting the winners. The winner should receive their prize within 4 -10 weeks of providing their details.

a)      In the event that the winning entrant cannot be contacted within 14 working days of an email notification (day the email was sent) from FutureLearn Ltd, the prize will be attributed to another randomly selected entrant.

11. Prizes.  Prizes are non-refundable, non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and not redeemable for other prizes.

a)      The winner will receive a £1,000 cash prize.

b)      FutureLearn Ltd will pay this cash prize into a nominated bank account or PayPal account and will consider other options if necessary.

c)      The cash prize cannot be put towards any illegal activities. With that exception, it is at the absolute discretion of the winners how to spend their cash prize, but FutureLearn Ltd encourages winners to use cash prizes for a learning experience. FutureLearn Ltd accepts no liability for any issues arising after the cash prizes have been transferred to the winners.

12. Liability. FutureLearn Ltd shall not be liable, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or in any other way, for any loss or damage (howsoever arising) suffered by any entrant or nominee resulting directly or indirectly from entry to this Prize Competition. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall, however, exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction: These Terms and Conditions, and the Prize Competition, are governed by English law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
