Two brand new free online courses are now live on FutureLearn and ready for you to join, while many more previous courses are getting ready to run again. Here’s our quick guide to them all.
From Notation to Performance: Understanding Musical Scores
This four-week course from The Open University explores what’s involved when musicians create a performance from musical notation.
Using works by Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven and Mahler, it will introduce you to a pianist, a small chamber group and a conductor, who will explain how they create memorable performances from the notes on the page.

The Science of Nuclear Energy
With the need to reduce carbon emissions around the world, the way we generate our power has to change and nuclear energy is back on the political agenda.
This four-week course from The Open University will help you delve into the science behind nuclear power, and examine the arguments for and against including it in future energy planning.
