Seven new free online courses are now live on FutureLearn and ready for you to join, while many previous courses are preparing to run again. Here’s our quick guide to them all.

You can understand how social media is used in healthcare, to improve communication and information sharing, with this six-week course.
The first FutureLearn course from Taipei Medical University, it will help both medical professionals and patients discern reliable health information from misleading content.

Whether you’re a budding animator or simply an animation fan, this five-week course from the National Film and Television School (NFTS) will have something for you.

Exploring English: Shakespeare
You can improve your English language skills in this British Council course, which looks at the life and works of William Shakespeare, and his enduring popularity.
Over six weeks, you’ll look at five well-known plays, and learn about the words and expressions that Shakespeare introduced to the English language.

Liver Transplant: the Ins and Outs
You can learn about the science behind having a liver transplant with this three-week course from the Centre for Liver Research at the University of Birmingham.
It will answer important questions such as: how is it possible to take an organ like the liver from one person and have it survive inside another? And why is there such an increasing demand for donor livers?

Transmedia Storytelling
Stories are increasingly told across a variety of formats, such as books, comics, events, films, games and TV programmes – a trend known as transmedia storytelling.
This six-week course – the first on FutureLearn from Sungkyunkwan University – will help those with an interest in media or marketing understand this trend.
