Using 3D Technology to Improve Dental Implant Placement

v15

Radiographic examination is an important part of the process of placing dental implants. In the past, periapical and occlusal radiographs were used, but newer technologies such as panoramic radiography, cone-beam computed tomography, and multislice computed tomography allow for more accurate evaluation of the quality and quantity of bone available for the implant, as well as the location of vital structures.

These techniques provide 3D images that can be used to guide the placement of the implant and create surgical guides to ensure accurate placement. It is important to carefully evaluate the structural anatomy and potential limitations of the treatment in order to achieve the best long-term outcome for the patient.
